Spotlight on innovation in Fortaleza

Fortaleza’s Municipal Plan for the Development of Science, Technology, and Innovation was developed in 2019. It establishes strategies and guidelines designed to stimulate creative energy, diffuse scientific knowledge, and develop technologies in order to address urban problems and increase resident well-being. Mayor Cláudio works directly with a technical team to launch pilot projects grounded in data, which aim to stimulate public-private cooperation, promote economic freedom and quality of life for residents, and increase efficiency in service delivery by the Fortaleza government.

Digital Governance: The Fortaleza 2040 Masterplan, collaboratively elaborated with the population, provides information about the implemented and planned actions throughout the city through an online interactive Collaborative Map. The city also simplifies and digitalizes administrative procedures for various services such as issuing licenses, documents, or authorizations/permits of urban and environmental nature.

Social inclusion and equity: Fortaleza Digital project offers Wi-Fi internet access in several public spaces throughout the city. The city also offers professional qualification via an online learning platform.
